Why a Dog?
Throughout history, there has been a universal bond between humans and dogs. They were our first early warning systems long before security technology was invented, and they have stood faithfully by our side as companions and guardians ever since. Dog domestication can be traced back somewhere around 15,000 years ago.
Dogs symbolize trust, loyalty, and dedication, precisely the qualities CyberMaxx strives to deliver. What better animal to represent our values than a trusted companion that embodies the same qualities?
Maxx as a Symbol of Cyber Protection
Maxx is the embodiment of how CyberMaxx approaches cybersecurity. Like a trusted partner, he reflects the dedication of our SOC analysts who work tirelessly to protect our customers’ businesses around the clock.
His keen senses mirror our advanced detection and response capabilities and reflect how we’re always alert to potential threats. Just as importantly, his loyalty symbolizes the trusted partnership we build with our customers and partners, standing by their side with vigilance and commitment.
Even Maxx’s posture has meaning. In our logo, he’s looking to the left – symbolically, “left of boom.” In cybersecurity, the “boom” is the moment of a breach, and everything to the left represents the proactive side of defense. This is a deliberate choice that reflects CyberMaxx’s emphasis on preventive strategies. Maxx is ready to signal to the rest of us that danger is coming, so we can spring into action and prevent cyber incidents before they happen.
Maxx in the CyberMaxx Community
Maxx is also a reminder of the bonds that connect us outside of the digital world. Many of our employees share their lives with loyal pets, and those relationships echo the same qualities Maxx represents.
That spirit extends to our broader community through our support of Defenders for Children, a charity that works to protect children from sexual abuse. By celebrating Maxx, we are also celebrating the people, pets, and shared values that make our community stronger.
Carrying Maxx Forward
Maxx is a constant reminder of our mission to defend, and he will remain a key part of CyberMaxx’s identity as we move into the future.

A Few Fun Facts About the Domestication of Dogs
The Bonn-Oberkassel Dog Is the Earliest Confirmed Pet
The Bonn-Oberkassel dog, discovered in Germany in 1914, is the first undisputed example of a domesticated dog. It was buried alongside two humans around 14,220 years ago, indicating a strong emotional bond and suggesting dogs were already considered family members.
Dogs May Have Been Domesticated Twice
Genetic studies suggest that dogs were domesticated independently in two regions: Eastern Eurasia and Western Eurasia. Asian dogs originated from Asian wolves at least 12,500 years ago, while European Paleolithic dogs came from European wolves around 15,000 years ago.
Dogs Evolved Physical Traits That Differ from Wolves
As dogs diverged from wolves, they underwent noticeable morphological changes, including shorter snouts, smaller stature, and different teeth structures. These changes were likely influenced by their close interaction with humans and selective breeding over thousands of years.
